RANDWICK PARLAY

RACE 5 (9) ZOURKHAN: With Sydney getting some serious rain the safe play has to be with horses proven on wet tracks and few fit the bill better than this consistent 6YO as his he has missed a place just once in seven starts in soft and heavy going. He added to that record at his last start when he mastered the heavy conditions under 59kg at Rosehill for a decisive win in a BM78 over 1800m when having only his second start after a break. The drop in weight to 56.5kg has him well placed to cope with this deeper BM 88 field, he’s won third up in the past and has James McDonald to help him overcome a wide barrier which might be the favourable draw under the conditions.

RACE 7 (5) DEALMAKER: His sire Dundeel won this race as a 3YO and it’s been his target since he won over 1550m on a soft Kensington track in June. While there has been a slight hiccup in his prep he appeals as a 3YO who will relish the step up to 2000m after his strong placings in the G3 Ming Dynasty (soft) and G2 Stan Fox Stakes (heavy) – strong form races he may well have won with better luck. Beaten a nose last time with the Golden Rose winner The Autumn Sun behind him and after an easy trial last week that compensates for the month between runs I’m happy to side with him at the value odds due to his disclosed talent on affected tracks.

RACE 8 (5) I AM SERIOUS: If the Avilius form is as good as we think then this classy mare is placed to win coming back to her own sex over her pet trip after challenging that class act at her last two starts with credit. She has been placed behind Avilius at her last two starts over 1900m and 2000m with her latest third in the G3 Kingston Town an outstanding form line as she split the subsequent ATC Metropolitan quinella of Patrick Erin and Brimham Rocks after doing all the work on the pace. She’s won four times in the wet, is unbeaten at the mile and with only 54kg she’s certain to test her higher weighted rivals in the expected tough conditions.
