Promising filly Niedorp is set to make her delayed debut after missing a scheduled start at Doomben because of a wide barrier.

Niedorp would have started a short-priced favourite on Saturday on the strength of a brilliant trial over 840m in 49.94 seconds at Doomben two weeks ago.

She was the only horse to break 50 seconds for the morning and did it after sitting three deep.

Trainer Tony Gollan left it until Saturday morning to scratch Niedorp which gave him one runner in the fillies two-year-old handicap, Country Cocktail.

She ran fifth after sitting deep for the whole race from a wide barrier.

Niedorp is one of 15 entries for Saturday's two-year-old handicap (1050m).

"In the end it was a wise move not to run Niedorp from the outside barrier at a start which is notorious for being difficult to win from," Gollan said.

The trainer has also entered Kandanga Miss and Rapid Ascent.
