Not the oldest yet still an eight-year-old, Ball of Muscle was too speedy in his third win from his last four starts, sixth stakes and twelfth in total. Jockey Craig Williams had him away quickly from the outside barrier (11) to lead early, sat away from the fence down the side and turned in three widths wide. Williams coaxed him along, scooted clear by two lengths from the 150m and that was enough - they couldn't catch him - to be a half length in front when it mattered. Spirit Of Valor made his run from the 400m, moved up to be a handy sixth then kept up a strong run, especially late, but the winner's break was too much. Missrock was well back and widest turning in, finished very well out in the middle of the track but much too late with Voodoo Lad also getting going in the final 50m to flash into fourth.
