Everest champion Redzel may be a surprise starter in the Manikato Stakes at Moonee Valley on Friday week.
Co-trainer Peter Snowden said Redzel had done well since his second successive win in The Everest at Randwick on Saturday that took his career earnings to more than $15 million.
Snowden said Redzel was set to go to Melbourne for the G1 VRC Classic at Flemington on November 3 but was not ruling out a crack at the Manikato Stakes ( 1200m) at Moonee Valley on October 26.“He's pulled up very well again. He's just incredible,” Snowden said.
“It was a pretty tough run on a testing track but he's nice and bright."We'll stick to our plan and go to the Classic like last year but he is nominated for the Manikato Stakes.
“The way he has pulled up I wouldn’t rule that out."Redzel won the VRC Classic last spring after his first Everest victory.
