Trial Watch runners for October 16 and 17 and Randwick trial review for October 15.

TRIAL WATCH RUNNERS October 14/15

NEWCASTLE Tuesday: Engadine (R1); Shadow Bridge (R1); Sizzleonthebridge (R1); Time Out Of Mind (R7)

RANDWICK KENSINGTON Wednesday: Adana (R2); Brazilica (R2); Secret Legend (R2); Thy Kingdom Come (R7); Time Out Of Mind (R8)

SHADOW BRIDGE (Warwick Farm September 7): It’s clear that Mark Newnham, being a Gai Waterhouse disciple, likes to see his horses run and perform in their trials and that was the case with this maiden 3YO who was never challenged and kept extending his lead to score by 7.3 lengths in a creditable 47.63 (last 600m 34.10). Followed up with another noted trial effort when second at Rosehill on September 21. Will be well fancied when produced to improve on his only start at Newcastle in May.

RANDWICK October 15

Heavy 9; Inside Randwick Grass (Heats 6-14 Abandoned)

5 Heats – 2 x 1200m (2 Open); 3 x 1050m (2 Open; 1 Maiden)

Despite the heavy conditions there were some notable efforts, especially from the Group One star KEMENTARI in his open heat over 1050m. He settled easily three wide and two lengths off the leaders and from there he simply went through the motions to finish an unextended second, beaten less than a length by POETIC CHARMER, a nice type from the Snowden stable. KEMENTARI has obviously freshened up nicely and he is set to go to the Manikato Stakes at Moonee Valley in cracking form.

POETIC CHARMER has won only once in 10 starts but he has the ability to progress when he resumes after running home strongly from midfield.. Behind them the well performed SAMBRO was having an easy time of it but notably was strongest in the last 50 metres when he ran through the line with a relish.

The two 1200m heats were won by Waterhouse/Bott runners FABRIZIO and BLACK SUNRISE. FABRIZIO invariably trials well and should be ready to run a race fresh while the maiden BLACK SUNRISE has had five trials and his strong win in quicker time augers well for his prospects when produced. His stablemate WOLFE, an unraced import bred in Japan, caught the eye and is worth watching.

In the other open heat over 1050m the talented CRADLE MOUNTAIN reeled in a tearaway leader easily in the last 200m to record a strong win without being tested. He’s had two trials and is ready to resume.

The unraced Ron Quinton--trained filly BETTY BLOOMS impressed in the maiden heat over 1050m. She always had the heat under control, travelling well within herself and striding away for a soft win with plenty in hand. This was the third trial for this O’Reilly filly and she has good prospects. The previously noted DE VALERA was again responsible for a good effort, being last and wide before making up a lot of ground late.

NOTED TRIALS: Fabrizio; Astoria; Black Sunrise; Wolfe; Poetic Charmer; Kementari; Sambro; Cradle Mountain; Betty Blooms; De Valera.
