Flemington Targets For Le Romain and In Her Time

3 minute read

Multiple Group One winner Le Romain will be set for a second victory in the $1 million Kennedy Mile when the Melbourne Cup carnival begins at Flemington on Saturday week.

The triple G1 winner was successful in the feature 1600m race of the carnival in 2016 when ridden by Hugh Bowman.

His Kris Lees-trained stablemate Clearly Innocent is also heading to the first day of the carnival for the $300,000 TAB Multiplier Stakes (1200m).

Lees will reserve Everest runner In Her Time to the $1 million VRC Sprint Classic (1200m) on the final day of the carnival on November 10.

So You Think mare Intrinsic, who broke through at Doomben last Saturday after missing four Queensland meetings because of washouts, is remaining at Lees’ Gold Coast base.

“It was great to see her break back into the winning list after all the problems she has encountered along with the cancellation of recent meetings,” Lees said.

“There is another suitable race for her at Doomben on Saturday week.”
