Lack Of Entries For George Moore Stakes

3 minute read

Brisbane Racing has been shocked by the lack of support for the $200,000 George Moore Stakes at Doomben on Saturday.

Only seven entries were received on Monday for the Group 3 sprint, first leg of the Sprinters Summer Crown series that offers a $400,000 bonus if one horse can win three of the five legs.

The classy Matt Dunn-trained sprinter Care To Think, not seen he was failed in the G1 Stradbroke Handicap in June, heads the entry list.

The only interstate entry is the Port Macquarie-trained Victorem from the Jenny Graham stable.

Victorem, winner of the Country Championship at Randwick last season, resumed with a luckless second in the Listed Keith Noud Handicap at Doomben on November 17 won by Most Important.

The Tony Gollan-trained Most Important and stablemate I’m A Ripper are also nominated for the George Moore Stakes.

Tyzone, Looks Like Elvis and Monsieur Gustave make up the entry list but nominations have been extended until Tuesday in the hope of drawing more horses.
