Prized Icon finished ninth, beaten five lengths, behind favorite Galaxy Star.

Trainer Kris Lees said Prized Icon’s form did not warrant leaving him in Perth for the $1 million Kingston Town Classic at Ascot on Saturday week.

“The horse is being flown home this week and will spell,” said trainer Kris Lees.

Meanwhile Lees will have at least two runners in the inaugural $150,000 final of the Spring Provincial Series at Kembla Grange on Saturday.

The $50,000 heats were run at each of the five provincial clubs with the three placegetters all automatically qualifying for the $150,000 1600m Final.

Andrew Gibbons will ride High Power who won the fourth heat at Newcastle over 1500m on November 18 when partnered by Corey Brown.

Gibbons rode stablemate Chalmers in the Newcastle heat. He ran fourth but has been elevated into the field for Saturday’s final following the withdrawal of another qualified runner.

Lees has booked Koby Jennings to ride Chalmers.

A third Lees entry I Am Awesome will be declared an emergency as a result of her fourth placing behind Manhattan Mist in the Wyong heat on October 21.

Lees hopes to have at least one representative in the feature race named after his late father Max at Newcastle on Sunday.

He has nominated Australian Bloodstock pair Vinrose and Snowzone for the $75,000 Max Lees Classic (900m).

The two-year-old sprint was introduced last year and was won by Jonker. Prizemoney has been boosted from $50,000 for the second running.

“I will gallop both youngsters and then make a decision,” Lees said. “Obviously I would like to have at least one runner in Dad’s race.”

Vinrose and Snowzone both won 800m trials at Newcastle on October 22 and clocked almost identical times.

I Am Invincible filly Vinrose ran 48.78secs and Snitzel colt Snowzone ran 48.77s.

The latter had previously finished third in an 800m trial at Gosford on November 7.
