Death Of Leading Owner Errol French

3 minute read

Errol French - one of the most successful owners in NSW country racing - has died following an extended battle with illness.

The bulk of his horses were easily recognised by racegoers as most included the word 'Blinkin' in their name.

He raced horses in NSW for over 30 years and records show that since 2000 he had registered at least 170 horses in his sole ownership, many bred from his own mares.

The majority of French's horses were prepared by Ross Stitt at Taree but in recent years had spread his horses over a number of trainers in different districts of NSW including Tamworth and Dubbo.

At the time of his passing he had horses in work with Stitt, Sue Grills, Craig Clegg, Stephen Dixon and Clint Lundholm.

Some of his better horses over the years include Blinkin Quick (16 wins) and Clan McClymont (12 win) and Blinkin Easy (14 wins).

A service to commemorate the life of Errol French will be held at the Tamworth racecourse on November 29.
