Classy colt Graff will not be a Magic Millions contender at the Gold Coast on January 12.
Trainer Kris Lees has confirmed that his classy young sprinter would not be set for the MM Guineas over 1400m despite the $2 million prizemoney.
Graff was posted as one of three joint favorites for the Guineas but has now been taken out of the market.“Because it’s an all-in market we wanted to advise everyone as soon as betting had opened,” Lees said.
“I can assure punters Graff is not going to the Gold Coast.“He is back in light training at our farm at Ellalong and looks terrific.
“Depending on how he progresses, he may go to Melbourne in the autumn for the Lightning Stakes and Newmarket at Flemington.”Graff was spelled after finishing fifth to Redzel in the $13 million Everest (1200m) on the heavy Randwick track on October 13.
The lightly-raced Star Witness colt has a 50 per cent win record of three from six starts. He won the G3 San Domenico Stakes (1100m) when resuming at Rosehill in August and then was placed in the G2 Run To The Rose (1200m) and G1 Golden Rose (1400m) in September at the same track.
