Tony Gollan-trained three-year-old gelding Zoustyle is now unbeaten in five starts and he was most impressive in recording his first stakes success here. He began brilliantly from his wide barrier (10) and went straight to the front. He dashed clear shortly after turning for home and then fought back strongly to record a very good win. Outback Barbie settled in back in eighth place, improved (deep) rounding the home turn and then put in a good run. She went to a distant second at the 100m and kept making good ground for second, beaten just under a length, in a very smart second-up performance. The $101 outsider Pennino raced in fifth place, on the rails, got through on the inner at the home turn and fought on to hold the minor placing. Churning made good ground from eighth to finish (4.5 lengths) fourth while the well-favoured Chess Star was quickly away and after attempting to lead, settled in second place. He challenged coming to the home turn but faded quickly in the straight for (8.7 lengths) tenth.
