The high class son of Harbinger sustained injuries to both fetlocks.

Attempts to save him at Ballarat Veterinary Clinic were unsuccessful.

Tosen Basil won five races in Japan and raced four times in Australia for the Darren Weir stable with his best performance a close second in the G1 Underwood Stakes at Caulfield.

Tosen Basil was among four Japanese horses imported to Australia by Ozzie Kheir and his racing partners earlier this year.

"Our ownership group are obviously saddened by the event," Kheir said. "We never got to experience Tosen Basil's best in Australia after his close second in a Group 1.”

Kemono and Danon Ramon have both recorded multiple placings since arriving while the fourth import Admire Robson is yet to race in Australia.
