Hawkesbury’s leading trainer Brad Widdup will set promising filly Wonderbabe for a new million dollar race at Warwick Farm on February 9.

Widdup made it 21 wins for the season including six in town when the lightly-raced Wonderbabe won at Randwick on Boxing Day.

He is now aiming to get the Snitzel filly into the Inglis Sprint (1100m) for three-year-olds, a race that has been significantly boosted from $250,000 to $1 million.

Widdup has been patient with Wonderbabe, a $400,000 yearling purchase by his major client Damion Flower.

She has faced the starter only three times and is unbeaten in both starts this preparation, having scored first-up at Newcastle on December 8.

She has earned prizemoney of $46,120 but Widdup considers that probably still won’t be sufficient to clinch a berth in the Inglis Sprint.

“I would like to win another city race with Wonderbabe at Randwick on Australia Day to ensure she makes the field,” Widdup said.

“She has pulled up well and I’ll back off her for the next week.”

Widdup had two fillies represent him in this year’s Inglis Sprint with Acqume finishing second and Za Zi Ba fourth behind the classy Golden Slipper winner She Will Reign when only six horses contested the race.

Widdup is looking to extend his season’s tally with Junglized and Enraged engaged at Randwick on Saturday.
