Champion mare WInx was unextended to finish midfield in the first barrier trial of her last racing preparation at Rosehill on Tuesday morning.

Slow to jump, she settled a clear last before working into the 900m rial over the last 500m, picking up several lengths to finish seventh, about five lengths from the winner.
However her rider Hugh Bowman allowed her to stride out for 300m after the winning post, ensuring the mare had a solid piece of work.
Winx is set to trial again on January 29 and may also have a race day exhibition gallop before she resumes in the Apollo Stakes (1400m) at Randwick on February 16 where she will be seeking her 30th successive win.
