Jerome Hunter-trained mare Belwazi, well supported at long odds, staged a really good effort in winning here, her seventh win from 18 starts and her first at stakes level. She raced just behind the leaders in fifth spot, tracking a steady early tempo, moved up at the 400m, quickly hit the front at the 200m and then went on to score quite impressively. Glenall was handily placed in third, racing nearer the flat side, challenged at the 200m and battled gamely for a good second in a sound first-up effort. Champagne Cuddles settled in seventh, just behind the leaders, challenged on the inner at the 200m and fought well for (half a length) third in a nice effort at her first run this preparation. Missrock raced in last place in the nine-horse field, improved from the 300m, went to fourth at the 100m and then battled on nicely for (2.3 lengths) fourth.
