2019 WIDDEN STAKES – RACE ANALYSIS AND TIPS

A field of 10 faces the starter in this year's Widden Stakes with four debutants taking their place. Speed anticipated from Intrepidacious, Blazing Miss and Giselle Anne.

LUCICELLO has displayed good ability at the trials and remains a big watch on debut for the Chris Waller stable. Profiles well and the booking of JMac is obviously a decent push. Drawn to receive all the favours and is expected to make her presence felt. Hard to beat.

AMERCEMENT caught the eye late in the Gimcrack on debut and has since trialled well off a break. Another drawn well and looms as a major threat. MAYAASEH the next in line for Team Snowden.

Form Preview

Godolphin-raced filly Amercement looked smart in winning here on her second start. She did not show any early pace from her inside barrier (1) and settled at the tail of the ten-horse field. Brenton Avdulla steered her between runners on turning for home, she took a split at the 100m and then fought best to score a narrow but very good win. Chris Waller-trained filly Rotator raced in seventh place, between runners, got a split at the 200m and then ran on really well for (half-head) second in a very good effort on debut. Blazing Miss was third, on the rails, moved up on straightening, took a narrow lead nearing the 100m and battled well for a close-up third. Giselle Anne began well from a wide barrier (9) and soon crossed to the lead. She grabbed a break on turning for home and then held on gamely for fourth, beaten less than a length.
