Peter and Paul Snowden-trained colt McLaren staged a very smart performance in winning here on debut. He settled nicely behind the leader (Exceed The Stars), moved up coming to the home turn, got to the front nearing the 200m and then fought back strongly to score a very good win. He should be improved by the experience and looks a colt with a bright future. Team Hawkes-trained colt Spring Loaded raced back in third place on the rails in the six-horse field, commenced to improve on straightening and kept making good ground to take a very promising second on debut. He too looks a talented colt. Deep Chill raced in fourth place to the home turn and ran on quite well over the closing stages to claim third narrowly from Exceed The Stars who led the field until the 200m and weakened from that point for (2.8 lengths) fourth after running a bold race in the lead with Magnate running on well, late for (2.9 lengths) fifth in a nice effort on debut.
