Inside knowledge a huge help for Les Ross

3 minute read

Trainer Les Ross has used some inside information to help Miss Sara win her third race in a row at Doomben.

Trainer Les Ross  used some inside information to help tough filly Miss Sara  make it three wins in a row at Doomben.

Miss Sara had led at her two previous wins at Doomben and Beaudesert but she was ridden back in the field on Saturday.

Ross said he had instructed jockey Clayton Gallagher not to lead unless he had to.

"I had some inside information that a couple of jockeys thought they could lead so I told Clayton to take a sit and take off at the 800m. We would then see who was the last one standing," Ross said.

"That's the way it worked out. She is super tough."

Miss Sara ($4.80) got home by a head to Perfect Witness  ($7) with along head to Red Phantom  ($14) in the Canadian Club Handicap (2200m).

Ross is debating whether to spell Miss Sara or continue on looking for more distance races.

"I don't know about her in the winter in a race like the Queensland Oaks. We might be better off continuing with races at this time of the year," Ross said.

Miss Sara is turning into a genuine bargain as she cost $12,000 and has now won $240,000.

Think. Is this a bet you really want to place?
