2019 QUEEN’S SILVER JUBILEE CUP - RACE HISTORY AND BACKGROUND

The Queen’s Silver Jubilee Cup is a Group 1 race run under Weight For Age conditions for the sprinters at Sha Tin conducted by Hong Kong Jockey Club.

The Queen’s Silver Jubilee Cup is run over 1400m. Since 2006 it was upgraded to Group 1 as part of a Hong Kong Speed Series.

Horses often run in the Stewards’ Cup then drop back in trip to the 1400m.

Five year olds have taken out eight of the last nine renewals of the race.

John Moore trained the trifecta in 2017.

Rated one of the best horses in the world, Beauty Generation backed up his Hong Kong Mile win with a win in this race two months later. He’d go on to bigger things after that.

The Queen’s Silver Jubilee Cup is worth HK$10m in 2019.

Some notable winners of the Queen’s Silver Jubilee Cup include Beauty Generation (2018), Helene Paragon (2017), Able Friend (2015), Gold-Fun (2014), Ambitious Dragon (2013), Lucky Nine (2012), Happy Zero (2010) and Good Ba Ba (2008).

The 2018 Queen’s Silver Jubilee Cup was won by Beauty Generation from Beat The Clock and Fifty Fifty.
