Moss Trip (Peter & Paul Snowden): Quality mare has been off the scene since last winter but she looks in great form to resume after showing her class in win her 1030m heat in the fastest time (61.70) with a big surge from off the pace. Kerrin McEvoy rode her quietly in midfield six lengths off the lead until giving her the slightest encouragement 100m from the finish when the response was immediate. Super impressive running easily past her rivals with McEvoy sitting quietly.

Born A Warrior (Team Hawkes): Second trial for this $1.4 million colt by I Am Invincible and really showed his stuff as he led under restraint and easily opened up a big gap on the chasers from the 400m to the 200m before Tommy Berry allowed him to coast to the line but still 3.8 clear at the finish. The merit of his effort lies in his fast time (53.99/34.30) for the 895m, far superior to the winning time by the boom colt Tassort (55.79; 35.70) in his heat.

Dyslexic (Team Hawkes): Another class mare stood out in the 900m heats, sitting three deep in midfield before rounding up her rivals that included Redzel with ease under a hard held ride from Tommy Berry. She put the fastest 900m heat time and sectional on the board (54.44/34.30) in her first trial since November and suspect she will take plenty from this strong hitout.

WARWICK FARM February 14

Good 4 – Course Proper Heat 1/Inside Grass Hats 2-14

13 Heats – Heat 1 1000m (Group/Listed); Heats 2-4 1200m (1 Open; 2 Maiden); Heats 5-10 800m (2 Open; 3 2YO; Heats 7/8 Combined); Heats 11-14 797m (1 Open; 3 Maiden)

NOTED TRIALS

Smart heat wins by the 2YOs Chicago Bull and MO’S CROWN with the latter running the fastest of the 800m heats. Maiden filly Ariege has definite prospects of an early win after dominating her heat over 797m.

XX Chicago Bull; Mo’s Crown; Ariege

X Salsonic; Maurus; Enfilade; Esperance; Hogmanay; Don’t Leave Me Out; Piracy; Ready’s Girl; The Soloist; Colombina; Luminescent; Mimi; Sakura; You And You Alone; Adonis Victorious.

GOSFORD February 15

Good 4 – Course Proper

11 Heats – Heat 1 1200m (Open); Heats 2-4 1000m (2 Open; 1 Maiden); Heats 5-11 800m (3 2YO; 1 Open; 3 Maiden)

NOTED TRIALS

Blake Shinn won five heats, three for Kim Waugh and two for Waterhouse/Bott. Suspect the efficient Waugh-trained 2YO heat winner Street Scream was the one who made the effort worthwhile but best of the day was clearly the Damian Lane-trained 2YO filly Camellia Legend in the quickest 800m heat time (48.71/34.00) - dominant and very professional for a filly having first trial.

XX Camellia Legend

X Art D’Amour; McCormack; Hubble; Clear The Beach; The Tenor; Ipsum; Alam Mo Na; Rathvilly Miss; Street Scream; Zapluck; Nosey; Jonker; Guard Of Honour; Vermont; Charged Flame.
