Triple Group One winner Happy Clapper has secured the first wild card for the $5 million All-Star Mile at Flemington.

The winner of the Epsom Handicap/Doncaster Mile double at Randwick last season, the Pat Webster -trained Happy Clapper also won the Canterbury Stakes during a stellar 2017/18.

The gelding's spring had to be abandoned when he suffered a bleeding attack in the Makybe Diva Stakes in September.

He showed no ill-effects when he returned last Saturday to run second to champion Winx in the Group Two Apollo Stakes.

The All-Star Mile at Flemington on March 16 will feature a field of 14, 10 chosen by the public to be revealed on Thursday, and four wild cards.
