2019 GUY WALTER STAKES – RACE ANALYSIS AND TIPS

Wide open affair with a host of leading chances in this year's Group 2 Guy Walter Stakes. Speed drawn wide and expect fair solidly tempo.

NOIRE did enough first up to suggest she can strike here with Bowman linking back aboard. Has won 3/4 second up and is sure to appreciate the step up to 1400m. Drawn to settle closer and should prove hard to beat.

MANICURE just couldn't get passed Alassio last start, but clearly no knock on that form and she only looks to have to repeat that level of performance to be right in the finish again. Hard to beat. DYSLEXIC has trialled like a bomb in the lead up and looms as a major threat fresh.

Alassio is now the winner of three of her last four starts. Winner of the Triscay Stakes (Gr 3, 1200m) here on February 16 she again showed pace and settled nicely outside the leader (Mandylion), got to the front at the 300m and then fought back gamely when challenged to win well. Dixie Blossoms, winner of this race in 2017 and 2018, had a good trip in fifth place. James McDonald brought her with a well-timed bid to challenge on passing the 200m and she then battled gamely for a good second. Manicure had a nice trip from her good barrier (3) in fourth place on the rails, challenged at the 200m and then fought on well for third just in front of Dyslexic, who made ground along the rails to be in a challenging position at the 150m before fighting on for (1.6 lengths) fourth.
