Lees will start Invincible Gem and Princess Posh in Friday’s $160,000 Newcastle Newmarket (1400m) on his home track at Broadmeadow then fly to Melbourne to line up three representatives in Saturday’s $1.25 million VRC Newmarket (1200m) at Flemington.

Lightning Stakes winner In Her Time (Corey Brown) will be joined by exciting three-year-old Graff (Willie Pike) and Brave Smash (Damien Oliver) in Melbourne’s feature autumn sprint.

Dual G1 winner Brave Smash, runner-up to Redkirk Warrior in the Newmarket last year when prepared by Darren Weir, has 57kg.

In Her Time, a dual G1 winner, has 55.5kg and Graff, the least experienced of the trio, has 51kg.

“All three are in good order, and I’m looking forward to having my first runners in the Newmarket at Flemington,” Lees said.

“It’s not often you get the chance to win two Newmarkets on consecutive days - it’s just the way the dates have worked out this year.”

Lees has booked Brenton Avdulla and Jason Collett for his Newcastle Newmarket runners.

Invincible Gem has 57.5kg for the Newmarket and Princess Posh 55.5kg.

Siege Of Quebec is the 59kg topweight with last year’s winner Lanciato going up 4kg to 58kg.

The Newmarket opens the two-day Newcastle autumn carnival which continues on Saturday with a $150,000 qualifier of the Provincial Championships (1400m).

Lees has nominated Bastia, Chilly Cha Cha, Milseain, Turnberry and Vive Marie. At this stage Bastia and Turnberry as certain starters.

Lees has won two of the four runnings of the annual series with Danish Twist in 2016 and Serene Miss last year.
