2019 MAURICE MCCARTEN STAKES – RACE ANALYSIS AND TIPS

Wide open sprint contest with a number of differing form-lines converging. Speed is drawn across the track ensuring a fast tempo.

EASY EDDIE (4) just failed to bring up the hat-trick last start when going down narrowly in the Listed Takeover Target. Racing in career best form and comes here fresh (58 days) off the back of a soft trial at Warwick Farm. Gets his chance at the weights and shapes as one of the hardest to beat.

TREKKING (5) raced in good order last preparation and has to be kept safe fresh for the Cummings stable. Two trials in the lead up have been solid and he looms as a major threat with McEvoy sticking aboard. FIERY HEIGHTS (3) was very good in two runs last time in and remains under strong notice for the Barry Lockwood stable.

Consistent four-year-old Easy Eddie took his record to eight wins (eight placings) from 20 starts in taking out his first stakes success in good style here. He settled nicely in fourth place, moved up nicely from the 300m, hit the front at the 100m and went on to win well. It was also a good ride by Robbie Dolan. She Knows raced in second last place in the ten-horse field, got along the inner at the home turn, challenged at the 200m and then battled well for second. All Over Bosanova raced outside the leader (Fiery Heights), went to the front at the 300m and then fought on well for a close-up third while Trekking made late ground from eighth to finish (1.2 lengths) fourth.
