A great price heads the Tips and Race Preview for the 2019 The Galaxy at Rosehill on Saturday.

Viridine has already been fancied into $6.50 in the 2019 The Galaxy (1100m) at Rosehill on Saturday.

2019 THE GALAXY – RACE ANALYSIS AND TIPS

Another key highlight with this year's Group 1 The Galaxy. Tempo should be very strong with a number of go forward types engaged.

VIRIDINE (8) really impressed when returning as a gelding, closing off very well to finish a narrow third behind Ball Of Muscle. Ran the fastest 800m/600m of the meeting and is clearly the weight horse out of the Challenge Stakes. Ran third in this race last year and has drawn to get a lovely run. Should relish the strong tempo and prove hard to hold out.

PIERATA (3) was very good against the race shape first up and has figures easily good enough to be winning here. The drop back from 1300m is another tick with a likely heavy track.

NATURE STRIP (4) failed to fire a shot as the $2.25 favourite in the Oakleigh Plate, but is obviously more than capable if the real Nature Strip turns up. REDZEL (1) is all class and is in fact well treated with 59.5kg.

Form Preview

Having his third start for new trainer Chris Waller, Nature Strip broke through for his first Group 1 victory here, his tenth win from 15 starts. He began well from barrier 9 and with the early pace not overquick, James McDonald soon took him to the lead. He then set a good tempo, got a clear break on straightening and although tiring in the closing stages, he held on to score by the barest of margins. Pierata raced back in eighth place until into the home straight and then ran on strongly to fail by a nose for second in a really smart effort at his second run back. Easy Eddie raced in sixth place, one off the rails, moved up well (wide) at the home turn, went to second at the 200m and then battled on really well, advancing in class here. Encryption was back in tenth place at the home turn and made good ground for (2.7 lengths) fourth, while the favoured pair Redzel weakened from fourth at the home turn under his top weight (59.5kg) for (6.4 lengths) eighth and the three-year-old Graff tired from fifth at the home turn to finish (8.5 lengths) last in the heavy 8 conditions.
