Wagga Carnival Next For Promising Mount Horeb

3 minute read

Victorian visitor Mount Horeb continued his love affair with Albury by claiming victory in the $50,000 Barlens City Handicap on Thursday.

The four-year-old made it five wins from six starts at the track with a dominant 21/4 length victory in the feature sprint.

Mount Horeb lived up to his short quote, sitting up on the speed and then dashing away from his rivals to continue jockey Blaike McDougall's domination of the Southern District riding ranks.

Wagga sprinter Fermanagh Lad boxed on for second, with Kooringal Star third.

Kyneton trainer George Osborne declared Mount Horeb a much better horse when he crosses the border.

"Every time he comes to Albury he wins by three," Osborne said.

"He puts his shoulder down and lets down so much better than the other direction."

"It looks like we have to go that way doesn't it," he said.

Wagga trainer Gary Colvin pulled the right rein with Noble Descent as he continued his good form with victory in the $40,000 Albury Mile (1600m).

He also has the Wagga carnival on his radar with the Murrumbidgee Cup his next start as a test for a crack at the Wagga Cup.
