Invincible Gem recorded her sixth win in 24 starts in taking out this Group 2 race quite impressively. Having her fourth run this preparation, she settled outside the leader (Daysee Doom), putting pressure on that runner from the 600m, appearing to get the upper hand at the 200m and then fought strongly to win well, albeit by a neck. Daysee Doom went to the front, fought back gamely in the heavy conditions when challenged for a game second. Noire raced in fifth place, on the rails, switched into clear running at the 300m and kept battling well to take the minor placing. Sedanzer was a handy fourth most of the way and held that position, beaten 3.6 lengths. The favourite Dyslexic was third on the rails, and was blocked in the straight but only battled in the heavy conditions over the latter stages for (3.7 lengths) fifth.
