Verry Elleegant followed her impressive win in the Phar Lap Stakes (Gr 2, 1500m) at this track on March 16 with another very smart performance in taking out the Group 1 feature, again showing her talent in heavy conditions. She settled better (racing in ear-muffs and without a shadow roll) in seventh place on the rails. James McDonald switched her deeper to improve from the 600m, she then put in a strong run to hit the front at the 200m before drawing away to score by almost two lengths. Frankley Awesome settled back in second last place from her outside barrier (11), she went deeper at the 300m, went to second at the 100m and then battled strongly for a very good second. Aristia raced in sixth place, one off the rails, improved deep rounding the home turn and then kept battling on well for third. Nakeeta Jane was smartly away, settled in third place (on the rails), got into clear running on turning for home but then battled in the heavy 9 conditions for (6.6 lengths) fourth.
