Godolphin's classy colt Microphone took his record to four wins and two seconds from six starts in recording his first Group 1 success here. He was given a good trip by Hugh Bowman in sixth place, one off the rails, improved along the inner from the 300m, hit the front at the 50m and went on for a good win, running the 1400m out well. The favourite Loving Gaby raced in fifth place, moved up well coming to the home turn, was under pressure on turning for home and kept responding to riding to take second, beaten less than a length. Castlevecchio settled back in third last place in the 12-horse field, went deep on turning for home, put in a strong run in the centre of the track and kept finishing well to dead-heat for third with the Golden Slipper Stakes (Gr 1, 1200m) winner Kiamichi. She again led here, set a strong tempo, held a clear lead halfway down the straight, only tiring in the latter stages in a gallant effort. New Zealand filly Probabeel was back in eighth place at the home turn and ran on really well for (1.8 lengths) fifth.
