2019 KARRAKATTA PLATE – RACE ANALYSIS AND TIPS

Specialism has speed, Jericho Missile will be handy, Beethoven crosses from a wide gate and Miss West Coast, Mia Dolce and Amelia's On Fire also have pace.

RIO DEL MAR (9) was game in defeat on debut then looked strong late winning two weeks ago. Drawn ideally with the inside and if she gets a crack at them she's hard to stop.

JERICHO MISSILE (1) lost his unbeaten record when run down here last time after leading. If he takes a sit he can be harder to beat. DIVIDE THE SEA (4) will need luck from the wide gate but kept coming when placed in the same race as Jericho Missile. Each-way claims. Host of other chances with Dig Deep and Amelia's On Fire in the mix.

Form Preview

Once he saw daylight Dig Deep clawed his way into the lead at the 50m then thrust his neck forward for a surprise win here, his second in three starts. He settled in behind the early charge for position and sat one off the fence in fifth. Stuck in traffic rounding into the home straight a gap closed as he straightened but inside the 200m he moved out a lane and went after the leaders. He took a few strides to balance then accelerated quickly from the 100m, levelled up to the leaders at the 50m and thrust his neck out just short of the line. Tinsnip was midfield at the 600m, rounded into the straight very wide and when balanced ran home very well to be a neck back in second. Miss West Coast was four wide turning in, challenged and grabbed the lead at the 100m but was swamped the last 50m from pacemaker Amelia's On Fire, who was caught at the 100m then held on for fourth.
