Lindsay Park-trained colt Power Scheme appreciated the step up to 1600m and broke through for his first win in five starts here. He was ridden patiently by Mark Zahra and remained in seventh place (deep) before commencing his move at the 300m. He hit the front at the 100m and fought back to win by the barest of margins. Foxborough was also ridden quietly, settling in last place. He switched out rounding the home turn and then came with a strong late burst for the closest of seconds in a promising effort at only his second start. Extraordinary had a nice trip in third place, moved up at the home turn, looked under pressure at the 200m but lifted quite well in the latter stages to take third.
