The ATC announced on Wednesday that all general admission tickets for Saturday’s farewell run by Australia’s newest sporting icon had been sold.

With al tickets sold the Championships Day 2 featuring the $4 million Queen Elizabeth Stakes will set a modern day Randwick record crowd in excess of 42,000 people, beating the 40,000 who attended the Everest meeting last October.

All corporate hospitality has been sold out for several weeks and the last available general admission tickets were sold on Wednesday.

The ATC has created extra general admission spaces for this Saturday on the Leger Lawn along with an enlarged members enclosure.

The ATC closed its membership in January in anticipation of record crowds this autumn.

Winx’s final appearance in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes is expected to be watched live by millions of viewers around the world as she attempts to win her 33rd successive race.

Travel on all NSW Transport services on Saturday is included in general admission tickets and also for ATC members.

The Randwick gates open on Saturday at 9.15am for ATC members and 10am for the general public.

Race 1 starts at 11.25am, with the Queen Elizabeth Stakes as Race 7 at 3.05pm.

ATC chief executive Jamie Barkley said Randwick was ready to host a special moment in Australian sporting history.

“General admission customers and Australian Turf Club Members who have locked in their tickets for Saturday are set to witness a momentous day,” Barkley said.

“To sell out this event in such a competitive sports and entertainment market in Sydney shows that our racing is world class and on the cusp of something very special.”

Racing NSW Chief Executive Peter V’landys AM said: “I’m so happy that it’s a sell out as Winx deserves nothing less. She is an absolute champion in the true meaning of the word as is her trainer and jockey. To have Royal Randwick at its maximum capacity only highlights this.’’
