2019 JHB CARR STAKES – RACE ANALYSIS AND TIPS

A near capacity field is set to face the starter in his event with a number of promising fillies to take their place, expect the speed to be solid.

INTO THE ABYSS (4) failed to get into the race first up before displaying sharp improvement last start when only narrowly beaten behind Multaja. Rates highly off the back of that effort and with further improvement expected, she should prove hard to beat.

SO TAKEN (5) comes out of the same race and also improved sharply last start when finishing third. Has always shown good promise and looms as a major threat.

SHE'S FURLINE (11) is tracking well this time in and has to be included in the main hopes, while JEN RULES (10) also has to be respected.

Form Preview

Godolphin-raced filly Laburnum showed good early pace from her wide barrier (12) and Kathy O'Hara soon brought her across to settle outside the leader (Ragazze). She went to the front on turning for home and fought back to score by a very narrow margin in a game performance. The favourite Into The Abyss had a nice trip in seventh place, on the rails, from her inside barrier (1). She looked for clear running on straightening, got a split at the 200m and came with a strong late bid to miss by the barest of margins for second. So Taken settled in second last place in the 13-horse field, went widest of all on turning for home and ran on really well for a close-up third.
