2019 VICTORIA HANDICAP – RACE ANALYSIS AND TIPS

Blinkers go on Sircconi who should lead them at a good clip. MANOLO BLAHNIQ (7) can get the drop on a solid tempo here. Ran well last time when runner up and that can top him off to peak in what looks the ideal race for him at this point in the prep.

STREETS OF AVALON (3) has his measure at Mornington but will likely have to do more to be winning again at 1400m. Going so well he must be respected.

KEMONO (5) was hot on the heels of Manolo Blahniq last time and the trip clearly suits him. SIRCCONI (4) was ordinary last time but gets the shades and his best is clearly good enough. Have to be wary.

The consistent Streets Of Avalon recorded his second stakes success and his sixth victory (15 placings) in 32 starts in winning here. He began well and settled outside the leader (Sircconi) at a steady tempo. He got to the front at the 200m and then battled gamely to score a narrow but good win. The favourite Manolo Blahniq raced in sixth place, one off the rails. He improved (deep) rounding the home turn and then ran on really well in the sprint home for (half-neck) second. Fastnet Tempest raced second last place in the eight-horse field, got between runners on turning for home to be handy at the 200m and then fought on well for third.
