Damian Browne ,who is retiring after almost 30 years in the saddle, has been honoured in style at Doomben.

Jockeys formed a guard of honour as Browne walked into the winning enclosure to be officially farewelled.

The popular jockey announced his retirement two weeks ago after losing an on-going battle with knee problems.

Browne, 46, rode about 1500 winners and landed 15 Group Ones of which seven were on the top sprinter Buffering.

"I have enjoyed every minute of riding here in Queensland and I hope I will have an enduring role in the sport here," he said.
