Gold Coast trainer Toby Edmonds hopes in-form jockey Blake Shinn can spark of change of luck for Betaima and Tyzone at Doomben.

But first Shinn will need a clearance before he can ride Betaima in the Listed Bill Carter Stakes (1200m) and Tyzone in the Group Three BRC Sprint (1350m) on Saturday after standing down from the winning ride on Plumaro on Wednesday at the Sunshine Coast when he became ill.

He had earlier maintained his Queensland form with victory on Proud Captain to bring up his 11th winner since relocating from Sydney on April 27 to base himself in the north for the winter carnival.

Shinn and Edmonds have had a lot of luck over the years.

"Blake has ridden a lot of winners for me on horses such as Granny Red Shoes and Sagarone," Edmonds said.

Betaima will be having her first run since being unplaced in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic in January.

"She trialled really well and she is ready to run a race from barrier four," Edmonds said.

Tyzone is returning from an unsuccessful trip to Sydney where he was a last-start eighth in the Hall Mark Stakes at Randwick.

"He had no luck at all. I think every video watcher in Australia has picked up he should have been right in the finish," Edmonds said.

"If he runs well here we might even look at a Stradbroke Handicap start as this is his test at 1350 metres and further."

Think. Is this a bet you really want to place?
