2019 LORD MAYOR’S CUP – RACE ANALYSIS AND TIPS

Not expecting much of a tempo. Lite'N In My Veins could work across to find the front. LITE'N IN MY VEINS (4) returned to winning form when scoring by 1.3m over this distance at Morphettville. Does his best work at the mile and although drawn a touch wide he may be able to roll across to the fence without doing too much work. If that is the case he could be hard to get past.

TOM MELBOURNE (1) is tough to back with confidence but he continues to race well with placing at his past three outings. Expect him to be right in the finish again. ORDER AGAIN (12) has been close up at his past two runs in stakes races at Doomben and won here over 1500m three back. Major player.

DUCA VALENTINOIS (7) has found the line well in both runs since a spell and is a three-time third-up winner. LE JUGE (5) just keeps winning. Back in trip but has earned respect.

Winner of the Grand Prix Stakes (Gr 3, 2200m) at this track in 2017, Order Again recorded his second stakes success in scoring here, his sixth win in 18 starts. He settled in seventh place on the rails behind a good tempo before getting between runners on straightening. He then took the lead on passing the 100m and went on to score well. The favourite Tom Melbourne went to the front, raced a little keenly and at a good tempo, held a break on the 200m but then just battled on for another second, his third in succession and his 14th in his 44-start career. Le Juge settled back in tenth place on the rails, got along the inner on turning for home, got a split at the 200m and then ran on nicely to take third just in front of Salsonic, who was a handy fourth for most of the journey before holding on well to retain that position, beaten just over two lengths.
