Glamour filly Sunlight is the latest Group One star to secure a berth in the $14 million Everest at Randwick in October.
Slot holders Max Whitby and Neil Werrett have negotiated an Everest deal with the connections of the Tony McEvoy-trained filly.
The triple G1 winner is the fourth horse to be guaranteed a start in the world’s richest turf race, to be run over 1200m at Randwick on October 19.
Sunlight joins Pierata (Aquis Farm), Classique Legend (Bon Ho/Carmel Size Racing) and Santa Ana Lane (TAB) as the four announced slot runners.
McEvoy said it was both a thrill and a challenge to have Sunlight assured of an Everest start.
“It’s really exciting to have a runner in The Everest. It’s a real endorsement for the filly,’’ McEvoy said.
‘Now we can work as hard as we can to make sure she gets there in the best shape.’’
McEvoy said Sunlight will return to his stable next week after a short spel since she last raced in the G1 TJ Smith Stakes at Randwick on April 13.
