There is no shortage of previews available for Royal Ascot - you can find plenty of good stuff in the Timeform section of this site by clicking here - so we will keep things very simple across the five days, opting for numbers over words. That's the point of the Racing and Sports Pricing Model which we have been running over the British flat season to date - ignore the words, the narrative, and rely on the cold calculations of a pricing algorithm that takes a consistent apporach to a simple set of variables.

Across the five days we will publish prices for the leading handful of chances (according to the model) for all the stakes races, excluding the two-year-olds where the Model's information-processing advantage is weakened due to the relatively small amount of information available.

St James's Palace Stakes: Too Darn Hot $3.20; Phoenix Of Spain $3.20; Shaman $9.00; King Of Comedy $9.00.

Wolferton Stakes: Elarqam $3.20; Star Of Bengal $10.00; Mountain Angel $10.00; Willie John $13.00; Addeybb $15.00; Magic Wand $15.00; Oasis Charm $15.00.

Out of all of that the best bet looks to come in the last with Elarqam. The race is seen as a bit of a raffle away from him but he is considered far and away the best winning chance in the race and much more so than the early betting suggests. He has always promised plenty and his fast and high-rating win at Goodwood last time will hopefully (for Model followers) prove a pivot point for the regally bred son of Frankel.

It's probably just bits and pieces away from him but the French entry in the St James's Palace Stakes, Shaman, looks a bit underrated by the betting coming through back-to-back fast times in France and looks well worth backing there.
