2019 VICTORIAN SPRINT SERIES FINAL – RACE ANALYSIS AND TIPS

Just a building tempo expected down the straight six with Sirius Suspect and Tshahitsi prominent on either end of the line.

MILWAUKEE (3) stuck his nose out at the right time to win a very competitive lead up here a fortnight ago. Took good form into that and his straight course record makes him a key contender again. HALVORSEN (9) should be a big threat. Just a run last time but he was really good prior to that and his peak ratings stand out. Think he is a terrific chance of knocking off the older horses.

MALIBU STYLE (2) has been very honest in the right races and has a hope again. Think the drop back in trip can suit SIRIUS SUSPECT (10). Travelled strongly last time but couldn't finish it off over the 1400m. SMART COUPE (7) could be an improver.

Despite being a rising eight-year-old, Malibu Style continues to race well, taking his record to 11 wins (18 placings) from 55 starts in recording his fourth win at stakes level here. He settled in seventh place, but just behind the leading group. He took a split at the 400m, hit the front at the 300m and then fought back gamely in the sprint home to win well. The favourite Milwaukee had a good trip under Damien Oliver, tracking runners in sixth place before improving at the 400m. He moved up nearing the 200m and then kept running on well for (half-length) second, a lack of early pace proving a disadvantage. Holy Blade raced in fifth place, not far from the leaders. He took a gap at the 200m and kept fighting well for third. Sirius Suspect was one of a group racing close to the lead and he kept battling on well to finish (2.2 lengths) fourth.
