Singapore Racing - Weekend Review – I Am The One Kicks Off With A Win

3 minute read

Former Victorian I Am The One could have more wins in store after kicking off his Singapore career with a win at Kranji last Friday.

Previously trained by David and Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig, I Am The One led throughout to win the class 4 over 1200m for Shane Baertschiger and Matthew Kellady.

Running along at a good clip, I Am The One looked in trouble when challenged in the straight by Ararat Lady but fought bravely to cling on for a nose win in his first outing since December last year.

A three-year-old gelded son of I Am Invincible, I Am The One had six starts in Australia under the name of Juthoor, his highlight a maiden win on the Parks circuit at Morphettville.

He showed he had settled in well by winning his second trial in Singapore by 4.25 lengths and the way he fought to the line suggested he may be capable of working through his grades.

Ararat Lady also lost few admirers in missing narrowly in her first outing for three months and she could be worth following as her campaign progresses.

Two lightly-raced gallopers broke their maidens earlier in the program with Shocking gelding Amazing Choice scoring the first leg of a winning double for trainer Mark Walker when taking out a 1400m maiden.

A veteran of just three prior starts, Amazing Choice had placed at his previous two outings, the unplaced effort coming on the all weather.

The four-year-old showed his preference for the turf when hugging the fence in a line of three approaching the turn before kicking clear in the straight and holding off the closers.

He looks open to further improvement as he develops, as does the other 1400m maiden winner Rapidash.

The Cliff Brown-trained five-year-old had put the writing on the wall when runner up late in May but was luckless at his one run since.

With better fortune on his side this time, he scored by 1.8 lengths for Michael Rodd who then made it a race-to-race double when saluting on the Lee Freedman-trained Foresto.
