Tas Racing is confident racing will return to Elwick in late January for the Hobart Cup carnival.
The first meeting on the new Strathayr track has been tentatively pencilled in for Friday January 31 and will be a twilight program featuring the Tasmanian Derby.
The Hobart Cup will be run at the second meeting on Sunday February 9.
Barrier trials have been scheduled for Tuesday January 7 but there will be no time for any preview race meetings before the main days of the Hobart Cup carnival.
Lead-up races to the carnival normally run at Elwick will be scheduled for Mowbray in Launceston.
Work on the new track is progressing on schedule with the turf due to be laid down in August.
