Teo Nugent and Michael Poy claimed second and third place after Saturday's final leg at Flemington.

Brown was ineligible to ride in the final four legs of the apprentice-only series, having outridden his metropolitan claim in May, but held an unassailable lead over his rivals.

The Alice Springs product collected his trophy from Colin Madden, part-owner of legendary mare Black Caviar and chairman of title sponsors RMBL Investments, plus a retail voucher for $6000.

Brown banked back-to-back wins in the 25-race series, having won the 2017-18 title when he landed the Rising Stars Final at Flemington 12 months ago.

The 20-year-old carried that momentum into this season with victories at Bendigo and Geelong in November and January followed by three straight wins during the autumn at Seymour, Bendigo and Echuca, giving him an unreachable 74 points.

Mel Weatherley, RV's Athlete and Careers Development Manager, said: "Our congratulations go to Ethan Brown for claiming back-to-back wins in the Rising Stars Series, his victory last year was only sealed in the final race but this time he built a big lead thanks to some superb performances during the autumn period.

"Even though Ethan proved too hard to catch the quality of riding throughout remained at a very high level and the battle for the minor placings went right down to the wire.

"Our thanks go to Colin Madden and RMBL Investments for their sponsorship of this year's Rising Stars Series. Colin is a well-known figure in the racing industry and to have his support is a very welcome endorsement of the apprentice program in Victoria."
