Racing NSW stewards found Martin and stablehand Justin Webb guilty of engaging in improper actions in the purchase of two thoroughbred fillies in 2017.

Martin pleaded guilty to failing to pay all funds required to New Zealand Bloodstock in respect to the purchase of a High Chaparral filly in January 2017 after he received funds from another party for a 55% share in the filly.

Martin was disqualified for nine months but the penalty was reduced to six months, to expire on February 9 2020, after stewards took into account his guilty plea, good record in respect to like offences and other mitigating factors.

Martin was granted a stay of proceedings after he lodged an appeal against the sentence. He can continue training until the hearing of the appeal.

Justin Webb was disqualified for nine months after he failed to attend the August 9 stewards inquiry into a charge of failing to pay funds to the owner for a 17.5 percent share in a So You Think filly in 2017 after he had received such funds from the purchasers.

Webb has been disqualified until May 9 2020.
