Outstanding Tasmanian mare Mystic Journey made an impressive return to racing in scoring here, her seventh win in succession and her 11th from 14 starts. She settled back in fourth place, moved up rounding the home turn, challenged at the 200m, took the lead at the 100m and then went on to win in good style. Cliff's Edge went to the front, set a good tempo and then fought back really well when challenged in the straight for a very good second at his second run this preparation. The now nine-year-old Hartnell raced back in third place, went through on the inner rounding the home turn and was second on turning for home. He then battled well for third in a game first-up performance. Sikandarabad raced back in fifth place, on the rails, improved nicely at the home turn and then held on really well for (2.5 lengths) fourth in a promising effort, resuming here. Mr Marathon Man was raced in eighth place, went deep rounding the home turn and made ground for (5 lengths) fifth in a good first-up performance.
