Eastender joined the Waller stable in June after his Tasmanian trainer Barry Campbell was disqualified for three years on raceday treatment charges relating to an incident with the stayer prior to the Adelaide Cup in March.

The gelding won 11 of his 24 starts including the Devonport, Hobart and Launceston Cups and earned more than $555,000 in prizemoney for Campbell.

Eastender raced three times for Campbell after his race day scratching from the Adelaide Cup including a win at Devonport and a third in the Listed Andrew Ramsden Stakes at Flemington.

He had his first start for Waller at Randwick on August 17 where he was the subject of a stewards inquiry after finishing last in the Premioer's Cup Prelude over 1800m.

His apprentice rider Chris Williams reported that Eastender changed stride and made heavy contact with the running rail at the 500m and from that he was concerned there was something amiss with the gelding, easing him down over the final 250m.

The stewards ordered that Eastender would be required to barrier trial to their satisfaction before his next race start but the Waller stable has since advised that the 5YO has been sent for a spell.

In another post race report from the Premier's Cup Prelude the Bjorn Baker stable advised that an endoscopic examination performed on Goodfella after the race revealed it to have an entrapped epiglottis that will require surgery.

Other post race reports from recent meetings include:-

HAWKESBURY August 22

Rome – Co-trainer Paul Snowden reported that a full veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities but advised that a dynamic scope will be undertaken this week on with the intention to continue his preparation in Victoria.

WARWICK FARM August 14

Bennelong Dancer – Trainer Diane Scott advised that bloods obtained from the mare had not revealed any abnormal findings and that Bennelong Dancer will barrier trial at Wagga on August 29.
