Exciting young sprinter Classique Legend will get his belated Everest preparation underway in a barrier trial at Randwick on Tuesday.

The Les Bridge-trained four-year-old is the only horse holding an Everest slot not to have appeared in trials in the last month.

He was scheduled to trial two weeks ago but was withdrawn as a precaution after suffering from a slight cold.

Everest slot holder Sunlight from the Tony McEvoy-stable and Godolphin's crack sprinter Osborne Bulls, the horse most likely to fil their vacant Everest slot, are entered for the same 1000m trial on the course proper on Tuesday.

Sunlight and Osborne Bulls are set to run first-up in the G3 Concorde Stakes (1000m) at Randwick on Saturday week along with other Everest slot holders Redzel and Pierata.

However Bridge will hold Classique Legend back for The Shorts (1100m) at that course on September 21 as his first lead-up race to the $13 million Everest (1200m) at Randwick on October 19.

"It all depends on his fitness but we hope to give him two runs and go in to The Everest third-up," Bridge said.

"He looks beautiful at the moment, he got a lot stronger."

The G2 Premiere Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on October 5 is the obvious second race for Classique Legend if Bridge feels he needs that extra race.

Hong Kong-owned Classique Legend is the least experienced Everest contender, having had only four starts for three wins. He was spelled in April after winning the G2 Arrowfield Sprint (1200m) for three-year-olds at the Randwick autumn carnival.

Pierata's trainer Greg Hickman confirmed his Concorde Stakes plans after the All-Aged Stakes winner won his second trial at Warwick Farm last Friday.

"He had a bit of a blow but he's in good order and I'm very happy with him,'' Hickman said.

Pierata wore blinkers in his trial win over 1000m on the course proper.
