2019 WW COCKRAM STAKES – RACE ANALYSIS AND TIPS

Pippie has plenty of pace and can lead them at a good gallop. SYLVIA'S MOTHER (11) powered through the line winning at Flemington last time and that form has been working out really well. Plenty of winners through what is clearly a potent race and she was the all honours winner. She can win again.

PIPPIE (13) will give her plenty to run down though. Slick through the middle stages here last time and won with a leg in the air. Just has to stretch that to 1200m now.

AMPHITRITE (1) is a class mare who won well fresh last time around and should be powering home along with FIDELIA (9) who strung high rating wins together over the off season. SPANISH WHISPER (2) should race well first up.

Form Preview

Talented mare Pippie is now unbeaten in three starts this preparation and she staged a good performance in recording her first stakes success here, her fourth win from six starts to date. She began quickly as usual and then travelled well in the lead. She grabbed clear advantage nearing the 100m and then went on to win well. Spanish Whisper raced in sixth place, one off the rails, moved up nicely on straightening and kept running on to take second, without threatening the winner, in a sound first-up run. Sylvia's Mother had a good trip in fifth place on the rails, got through on the inner rounding the home turn, challenged at the 200m and then battled on quite well for third. Embrace Me showed good pace and after racing in second place to the home turn, held on nicely for (1.7 lengths) fourth. Fidelia made good ground from eighth at the home turn for fifth at her first run back while Amphitrite caught the eye, running on from near last for (2.3 lengths) sixth in a good first-up effort.
