The well-supported Zoutori scored a very good first-up win, his fourth win from his last six starts. Having his first run since finishing tenth in the Queensland Guineas (Gr 2, 1600m) at Eagle Farm in June, he raced just off the pace behind the runners nearer the grandstand side before putting in a well-timed run from the 200m. He hit the front at the 50m and then went on to win impressively. Parsifal raced in about seventh spot with the runners in the centre of the track before getting to the front at the 200m. He then battled well for second, having no chance with the late-closing winner. Dothraki showed good pace to race close to the leaders, challenged at the 200m and then fought on well for third in a sound effort at this second run back. Malibu Style raced close to the lead before holding on well for (2.4 lengths) fourth.
