2019 DANEHILL STAKES – RACE ANALYSIS AND TIPS

Not a lot of obvious speed here. Dubious has the blinkers on and Sebrakate should press forward on the stand side.

DALASAN (5) was a talented two-year-old but is a much better horse this time around on the evidence of his return. Ran past the Memsie winner there and is sure to appeal to plenty on the strength of that. STRASBOURG (3) has a nice profile. Missed Dubious in the Champagne up in Brisbane but improved to win the Sires and might have more upside now. Liked the trial.

LYRE (7) was just okay first up but that can knock the rust off and she should run well. Stablemate SUPER SETH (4) will run well again after winning fresh and SEBRAKATE (8) arguably should have beaten him there so must be considered.

With a big win over subsequent Group 1 winner Scales Of Justice at Group 3 level heading into this, Dalasan had too many guns over a talented field to take his record to four wins (now two stakes) in five starts. He was away well and sat second a length back of the leader to the crossing. He was given a shake inside the 400m, caught the leader at the 150m, had a brief tussle and then eased to the line with plenty in hand by a widening three quarters of a length. Dubious led from the outset, had more than a length lead at the 400m and was not caught until the 150m, then fought well when headed for second. Express Pass was last at the 400m and kept up a solid run without looking to catch the first two, taking third late from Sebrakate, who battled away.
